This holiday season we at Tana donated our Christmas present funds to help children and families living in dump sites get education and employment
While waste management processes and technology have taken massive leaps around the world in recent years, up to 15 million people, many of them children, are still forced to live dangerous surroundings in and around unauthorised and unmonitored waste dumps.
Small Steps Project is a humanitarian organisation that is dedicated to raising awareness and supporting children and their families around the world living in rubbish dumps who survive by scavenging.
We at Tana want to reduce the amount of waste being dumped needlessly and produce solutions that make landfills more sanitary and safer and ultimately take the world more towards recycling. Increasing the safety of the children forced to live in these surroundings and giving their families an opportunity to improve their lives in a permanent way is immensely important to us and that is why we chose to support the Small Steps Project.
They deliver shoes, hygiene kits and emergency aid to children living in dump site environments. After ensuring their basic safety, they take steps to help the children move off the dump sites into education and their parents into employment.
