Komptech at IFAT 2022: sustainable solutions for waste and biomass processing

The separation of mixed waste streams is without doubt one of the most difficult tasks in waste treatment. Efficient mechanical processes can contribute greatly to separation accuracy. Komptech is showing flexible solutions for a wide spectrum of applications at IFAT 2022. New machines include the Terminator 5200 direct SL for the stationary shredding/chipping of all kinds of waste, the Lacero 8010 and the Crambo 5000 e-mobile version for shredding wood and green cuttings, and the next generation of the Multistar L3 star screen.

Frohnleiten, Austria, 30 May 2022 – The machines developed by Komptech cover all the steps in mechanical waste splitting: shredding, screening, separation and sorting. They offer many parameters that can be adjusted to influence the quality of the output. ‘As a supplier of all-in solutions, at IFAT we’re showing system designs that perform specific recycling tasks, while accounting for the composition of the input material and the quality requirements of the recycling industry,’ explains Christoph Feyerer, Komptech’s Head of Marketing and Product Management.

Customer- and service-centric

At its booth Komptech uses models, animations and videos to show the broad scope of its products and solutions for waste and biomass processing, covering application areas, innovative machine and system technologies, and their practical implementation. This includes services, as well as various rental and purchase options. Customers can use a machine only temporarily, or test one extensively before purchase. ‘IFAT gives us the ideal forum for detailed talks and answering individual questions,’ says Christoph Feyerer.

Climate-friendly drive technology

Half of its machines are already available in e-mobile or hybrid versions. Thus, for comparable output they save up to 70 percent of energy costs over conventional machines. Furthermore, they allow the use of renewable energy instead of fossil fuels, making a direct contribution to CO2 reduction. At IFAT the company is showing a semimobile solution with the Crambo e-mobile, and a stationary electrically powered one with the Terminator direct SL. ‘SL’ stands for ‘Stepless’ speed control, and gives the best possible adaptation to very different feedstocks.

At the open-air VDMA Demonstration Days area, Komptech is showing the Lacero 8010, a brand-new high-speed shredder with a massive rotor. It’s the highest-performance shredder in the Komptech portfolio, and is suitable for shredding wood and green cuttings of every kind. In the VDMA Crushing Zone a Nemus 2700 shows what it can do in the way of processing light C&D waste. Biomass Zone visitors can also see an Axtor 4510, a Crambo e-mobile and a next-generation Multistar L3 star screen in action. On the new star screen, which Komptech developed together with Anlagenbau Günther, except for a few minor exceptions all components are electrically driven.
